An odd episode that humanizes Bullock without sanding off his edges. It's intriguing, too, for the subtle way it lets us understand his resentment of Batman. How revealing to actually see the contrast between the Bat's gadgetry and lithe athleticism, and Bullock's world of crummy apartments, weary legwork, minor hoodlums, and internal affairs. Even when Batman saves Bullock's life at the end, it feels like a defeat for our sadsack. It speaks highly of his character that he feels and expresses gratitude rather than humiliation.
